The idea of energy efficiency is quite simple; it is using less energy to accomplish the same level of service. However, accomplishing this is much more challenging. The University of Central Florida is taking steps to become more energy efficient everyday. New construction is aimed at being LEED certified and existing building are being recommissioned. In addition, new projects are underway to further improve energy efficiency including a new thermal energy storage tank and education for students and staff on how they can save energy.
