Sustainability Specialist I

Job Description: The sustainability specialist I will provide support to the many distinct sustainability efforts on campus. Primary responsibilities include fostering a culture of sustainability among students, faculty, and staff, identifying and prioritizing areas for institutional sustainability efforts, and planning and developing long- and short-range programs. The sustainability specialist I will also assist in the tracking and implementation of the university’s sustainability goals.

Student Sustainability Advisory Committee (SSAC)

Job Description: The Student Sustainability Advisory Committee (SSAC) serves as the student perspective in the values, educational material, policies, practices, and projects that strengthen the campus-wide commitment to sustainability. SSAC facilitates a shared avenue with the Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC) by providing detailed proposals and recommendations for furthering the sustainable practices of UCF’s institutional culture. The 8 members are appointed on an annual basis.

Sustainability Ambassador

Job Description: UCF Sustainability Initiatives (SI) is piloting an ambassador program to develop sustainability literacy within the university community. Ambassadors will cultivate skills in community engagement, social media management, and project management. As an ambassador, you’ll work to expand sustainability knowledge within your college by generating content for social media and the SI website aimed at meeting people where they are. Additionally, you’ll develop and execute action projects and events targeting UCF’s sustainability goals: 1) reaching carbon neutrality by 2050, 2) becoming a Zero Waste campus, 3) integrating sustainability across all disciplines. You’ll receive training, resources, and access to project funding. Ambassadors will support tabling activities and flagship events such as World Water Day, Climate Correction, and Campus Sustainability Month.
$10/ hr - 10 positions - hybrid in-office/remote

Outreach Assistant

Job Description: The Sustainability Initiatives outreach assistant will work with the sustainability specialist II to develop and maintain the office's outreach programs. The assistant will play an active role in connecting students, faculty and staff through sustainability programming and campus engagement. Responsibilities include event planning and execution, engagement campaigns, educational materials, content writing for the office's website, and more. Essential responsibilities include the creation, execution, and support of campus engagement ie. Kill-A-Watt, World Water Day, Campus Sustainability Month, National Drive Electric Week, Climate Correction Conference and Expo, Swap Shop, sustainability coalition meetings, and other community and campus engagement activities.
$12/ hr - 2 positions - in-office

Reporting Assistant

Job Description: The Sustainability Initiatives reporting assistant will work with the sustainability specialist to develop the office's Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking and reporting capacity. This will include tracking student, faculty and staff engagement in sustainable behavior, campus greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and academic sustainability activity. The position will provide support for the data collection and submission of the Associations for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS).
$12/ hr - 1 position - in-office
